Opportunity & Prosperity Campaign Regional Meeting

Dinner in Bridgeport April 3, 2008

A dinner with 50 local residents was held at the Burrough’s Community Center in Bridgeport on April 3, 2008. A panel discussion on Barriers and Strategies to Achieve Prosperity in Bridgeport with Roxanne Reyes-Velez, Casey Family Services, Valencia Taft-Jackson, Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, and Carla Miklos, Operation HOPE, was held. Jim Horan, Executive Director, CAHS facilitated. Participants included members and leaders of the Public Housing Resident Network, SEIU 32 BJ, Career Resources, and local residents.

Breakfast with Business and Community Leaders

April 4, 2008 Holiday Inn Bridgeport

 

Breakfast with more than 50 Business and Community Leaders featured a panel facilitated by Marilyn Ondrasik, Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition, State Senator Ed Gomes, Yolanda Caldera-Durant, Fairfield County Community Foundation, Reverend Donald Luster, Bethel AME Church and Peter Hurst, Community’s Bank.  Jim Horan, Executive Director, CAHS introduced the conversation with a powerpoint overview of the challenges to Prosperity in the Bridgeport community.  The group was joined by State Representatives Felipe Reinoso and Jack Hennessey.
